I've installed DSL on a few p1's with that amount of RAM
and it worked fine.
Since your bios supports booting from a CD...
the problem may simply be that your CDROM is too old to read the cd that you
burned.
try popping in a newer 48x CDROM...
I know I could not use any of those old 12x (or whatever) CDROMs to boot my
machines

Yes I've found that very few of the CD drives less than 32X or 40X won't
read a burnt CD at all. A temporary fix is just to substitute a modern
DVD drive, do the install and the re-connect the original drive.

Don't forget to load a CD driver and MSCDEX from your boot floppy if you
use that method to read the CD without BIOS help. Useful for testing
CD drives.

Sorry to all for not posting back. Other things have come up during the
4th holiday period. Will get back to this asap. A big thanks for the
older CD Drive tips. That may be my route.
