Mint 5.0

Need a bit of help. 5.0 will load on my phenom clone with no problems.
However, it bombs during load of the LiveCD on my Gateway 5220 refurb.

Ubuntu, to which family Mint belongs, has always had a problem with the 8451
timer and acpi. Is there a command to make the load ignore both of these?

Thanks

Deb

- what is a '8451 timer' in the context of a gateway 5220? google
doesn't prefer that term.

- the mint5 install gives 2 different ways to modify the boot command,
start linux mint vs start linux mint in compatibility mode; each of those
can be modified by using Tab. [Press TAB to edit options]

- the compatibility mode includes no acpi and no apic and some other 'no'
and force vesa

I have tried both load options and still a no go. Sometimes it gets right
to the point of opening the "X" server and then locks up. Most of the time
it does not get that far and reboots itself.

CPU: AMD Dual core
RAM: 2 gig
