| bestbuy laptops linux h/w compatibility I'm looking to get a cheapo laptop when the sale season rolls around, I found some good deals in the past at bestbuy. I want to run linux, most probably ubuntu, of course the laptops are sold as vista ready, and naturally the sales reps will go out of their way to point out that there are no guarantees that any linux distro or even winxp will work on the laptop. Short of googling for each laptop model and crosschecking with a given distro, is there a decent resource out there that outlines compatibility issues for laptops ? I assume if it works for winxp chances are it will work with lets say the latest ubuntu, but most of the info I've found is anecdotal evidence, and I'm getting tired of browsing through reviews to find the one guy who mentions something about something not working with some distro they tried. I've heard one of the major issues is wireless router card compatibility, is there anything else I should be concerned about ? TIA |
