There's a reason that Micro$oft had to go back to putting XP on new
machines.

Yes there is.
The same reason linux struggles..
people don't like change and XP does what they want.

However there are some that like to try new things and put in a few hours to
get them to work.
Without people like that there wouldn't be an alternative to DOS.

Thanks for the heads up ! Fortunately I nor any of my clients run
any "Debian" systems. Which is why I hadn't picked up on this.

Unfortunately you don't have to run one to be affected.
Any server you accessed could have had one of the duff keys meaning you were
not safe if you trusted that site.
If you downloaded anything or needed secure login then you could have a
problem if the server keys were broken.
People generate keys on one machine and use them on others.

You don't need to go through all that. All you need is a Live Linux CD
to reinstall grub onto the Master Boot Record using the command grub-
install. As long as your partitioning and locations of your OSes and
their files hasn't changed after the new install of XP, which would
affect menu.lst or grub.conf, then everything should work.

man grub-install or info grub-install for the details.

Give me a break. Vista is a steaming pile of dogcrap. People have always
flocked to the next Windows release because it was better. People (even
very dumb, stupid people) are rejecting Vista like it's smallpox.

You know how it works, huh? Billy will never pull the switch now to enable
the DRM, since it's selling so poorly and he doesn't want to alienate
anyone else, but if the plan had worked, you would have Uncle Billy telling
you by now what music you can listen to, what movies you can watch, and
what software you can run.

Stupid wintroll. You are now a memeber of my plonk community. There are
some really idiotic people in there - you'll fit right in.

I know, I told him that earlier as most installation disks are liveCDs
anyway.

PS This is pan so I don't know if it works yet.
