M$ Running Scared ?

"Worried about the explosive growth of Linux on inexpensive,
ultra-portable PCs like the Asus Eee PC, Microsoft has launched a
campaign to offer Windows XP at steep discounts to makers of low-cost
portables. Insider documents reveal that Microsoft is also trying to
make sure those portables don't become so powerful that they
cannibalize sales from higher-end Windows PCs."

Not only are they running scared they are also relying on their old
tactics. Drop your price to unbelievably low prices until your
competition is squashed. Lets see who well it works against free software.

It didn't seem to work so well on the new Asus Eee, at least not, as the
one with 12GB SSD with microsoftXP costs like US$8 more than the one
with 20GB SSD with Linux.

Linux failed on the Desktop, Linux failed on the Laptop so now lets try
the disposable mini Laptops. There must be a home some where.

It was running on the 'disposable' laptops long before MS even considered
creating a 'special' version of XP to do the same.

Linux is ready for the desktop and is very successful at it. Linux for
the masses is where it falls short. But its better that way.

Ditto. /Everywhere/ outside the USA, you'll find ever increasing take-up of
Linux. The Americans seem to think that "Vista" is a good idea!

There is. On your desktop, laptop, server, mobile phone, Tivo, and pretty
much everything else including your toaster.

Anh has had growing amount of users on both desktops and laptops each year. I
would hardly call that a failure. Slow but continuous growing of success
rather.
