| Stable, inexpensive SATA controller for software RAID? Just looking for some recommendations for a PCI SATA controller to use under linux... Debian lenny to be precise. Will be running software RAID5 on the drives connected to this controller. Thanks! |

A better page to look at is http://linux-ata.org/driver-status.html Yous check if the chips set on the cheap card is mentioned there as supported, then no problem to use that card and SoftRaid (OP would use that). Myself I would go with a mid-range card. When coming to cards that supports more than 4 devices, those are expensive and it can be more worthwhile to use two cards. SATA ain't SCSI, so they have to spend more money to support more devices. -- //Aho |
