| Posting using Pan Hi I cannot send newsgroup postings using Pan newsreader. I get the error message 441-not allowed to post. Any ideas why? If you could help I'd appreciate it. Cat |

My ISP does not have a news server so I couldn't use theirs so I was trying use a free one. I gave up in the end and just decided to use google groups as it is easier. |

Strange, sky.com has news.sky.com registered in their DNS, 195.173.72.91, but it does not respond to a ping. Googling "free news servers" gets 437 million hits and you can't find even one that works? Personally, I don't mind paying $3.95/mo to supernews. They provide excellent service and have been responsive to my very few complaints. |

Not so strange if you're familiar with satellite tv broadcasting in Europe... news.sky.com in a browser gives you the web page of Sky News, a 24 hour tv news channel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Sky_Broadcasting -- -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

Indeed it is. They must have blocked ping packets. |
