Question about hovering on a thread title

When you're on a forum's main page where the individual threads are listed, and you hover your mouse over a thread title, it pops up that little preview dialog. On other vBulletin forums, the first line or two of the OP's post is displayed, which gives you a better idea of what the thread is about. Here, by contrast, it displays the first line of the most recent post, which often is a quote from a different post somewhere in the thread - which rarely helps give the browser a better idea of what the OP was asking.

So the question is: is there are reason for doing it this way versus the first example? And if not, would it be possible to change that behavior?

The skin was developed several vbulletin versions ago and so there may have been a template change. But this is just a guess. Since there has been so much db corruption over the past 2 weeks, I am trying to upgrade to the latest version of vb and maybe that will change things, too.
