i just recently updated firefox and during that time my laptop died so when i went to turn it back on firefox didnt work. i then used internet explorer which worked for only a day. now im using safemode/ networking and its working on both firefox(reinstalled) and internet explorer. is there anyway to get my browsers to work on normal mode by going into the cmd. thanks in advance. ps im kinda a newb with this stuff so lamest terms please :D

There might be a combination of problems. Let's start with the easiest. By chance, do you have Norton running? If yes, uninstall Norton. If no, any other software "protecting" the machine? Disable and let us know.

ok ill try that... also i had an error about a haali codec that was messing something up. could that be a problem to keep me from connecting?

i have practicle the same problem none of my browsers work normally, but in safe mode they do. I am connected to the internet, aim and other things are connected and working but not my browsers. I do not have norton

good call on the norton program. what antivirus program do you recommend for vista. i used zone alarm for my pc and i had no complaints. but i dont think they have a version for vista
