Search Engines Rethink Stategies

Two interesting pieces of news have hit the internet this morning.

(1) Yahoo photos is shutdown n favor of Flickr
(2) Microsoft wants to open negotiations with Yahoo

There is no doubt that Google has taken over the world of search and nothing seems to be stopping the giant. However, there is plenty of room to fix the sluggishness slushing through site after site in order to find what you are looking to find. Searching is still far too cumbersome.

For example, I want retailers and manufacturers separated out. iGoogle is almost the right idea but the blocks should be different search criteria. One block for manufacturers, another block for retailers, another search block for news, another block for bloggers, etc.

How would you improve search results?
