IE cannot display the web page

Recently (I believe after installing IE8 ?) I can no longer connect to IP
addresses without a www at the beginning. Example: http://65.254.18.46:6000/.
These are IP or web camera demo sites from vendors I use for work. I have
verified that the site is up and running, active X downloads are enabled, I
have tried setting up the IP address as a trusted site but no luck. Running
XP SP2. "diagnose connection problems" finds nothing wrong. It seems this is
the only type of IP address that won't connect and it's true for sites from
more than one vendor. Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: IE cannot display the web page

Hi,

Works fine here on Vista x86 SP2.

Try removing the port number. viz copy and paste 65.254.18.46 in the IE
address bar only.

If that works it is your Firewall that is blocking that port.

You may want to contact Speco Technologies or DMR. (The Speco web cam active
X is incompatible with IE8 - Access Denied errors) Hint - that tells us that
the control is trying to read your local disk.

Regards.
