| IE7 how to stop certificate error roadblocks I have recently been forced to upgrade to IE7 and now it complains about a certificate on a management console that I requently use. It doesn't say what the problem is which is another issue I have with IE7 but I know it is because of a hostname mismatch. In any event, I have installed the cert, added the site to my trusted sites, changed trusted sites to low but it still constantly complains. How do I get this to stop? Thanks Pete |

| Re: IE7 how to stop certificate error roadblocks Assuming (1) WinXP SP2 or SP3, (2) the computer's time, date, and time-zone settings are correct and (3) the computer is fully-patched at Windows Update: Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com | Select CUSTOM and scan | Install any Critical Security Updates offered (i.e., KB972260). If a Root Certificates update is listed in the Optional Updates category, install it to take full advantage of IE's enhanced security. Root Certificates updates are released quarterly (most of the time). While such updates are installed automatically via Automatic Updates in Vista, WinXP users must install them manually. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 www.banthecheck.com Peter J. However, I'd recommend against doing this if possible, as you will not be warned about mismatched certificates at any time - this is not a per-Zone setting, it's an all or nothing setting. -- Dan |
