Sign on and passwords not remembered.

I am running XP Pro and IE 7. All updates installed.
When I go to a web site that requires an ID and password I put them in and
check remember me but they don't.
I just tried the "RESET" option in IE 7 and that didn't help I just lost all
my favorites and other settings. This was happening with IE 8 so I
uninstalled it and went back to IE 7 but no luck.
Can anyone please help?
Thank you,
Jay

Are you accepting cookies? If not, turn them on and try again.
Did you turn on Auto Complete? If not, try turning that on, too.
It's in Tools - Internet Options - Content

Re: Sign on and passwords not remembered.

If you clear browsing history, make sure the top item ([X]Preserve Favorites
website data) is checked and that the site is in favorites. Some sites use
third party security sites for logon, if so, put that site in favorites too.

If you use CCleaner or some other cleaning app, disable cleaning IE's temporary
internet files or it will remove what you are trying to preserve.

This works best if you keep your list of favorites lean.

Re: Sign on and passwords not remembered.

Thanks for the help but that didn't work either.
I have always had auto complete on.
Maybe I should uninstall and try again.

Re: Sign on and passwords not remembered.

I also had that problem when I used Internet Explorer.

I would sign into a website, the Auto Complete Passwords would appear asking
if I wanted IE to remember the password and I would tick yes. I would also
tick, "remember me," under where I signed in. If I closed the site and
reopened it later, I would be required to manually sign-in all over again.
This happened in IE 7 & 8.

Although the browser I now use remembers sign-in information, I occasionally
have problems with it. Which is why I have always maintain 2 copies of
WordPad, saved in separate locations, with all of my passwords and
usernames. In fact, I think I will also download the information on a disk,
just in case.

Re: Sign on and passwords not remembered.

Yes I have the problems in IE 8 as well. I uninstalled and re-installed IE 7
but it stil doesn't work. I can't beleive there is not a fix for this.
