Tab issues - connecting

So I have IE8 on Windows 7. I cannot right click and open a new tab. It just
sits there forever (I have waited) and says connecting.
1) IE 8 with no add-ons does not work.
2) Running as administrator, does not work.
3) changing the tab process setting in the registry does not work.
4) removing and re-adding IE8 does not work.

5) Ie8 64-bit does work, but not overly usuable since flash doesn't work
with 64-bit.

I am going insane. I am now using firefox but I really like IE8. Please
anyone help. I have been searching the web for a few days now and nothing
works.
I would be excited if someone could even help explain how I can go about
debugging this issue. what should I look for?

Thank You,
Jonathan Kaufman

Re: Tab issues - connecting

Win7 RC or Win7 RTM? Did you upgrade from Vista to Win7 or was it a clean
install?

Does the behavior persist if you Reset IE Advanced settings (RIES)?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 <= Read before using!

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed, is your
subscription current, and is it supported in IE8? What anti-spyware
applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? If
you upgraded to Win7, did you uninstall all of these applications before
upgrading?
