Hi everyone,

Am new to this site, and am hoping someone can help me!

I'm trying to download .mp3s from a site, but instead of the Save As or Open option (which I want) Windows Media Player (v.12 I believe) is opening them automatically.

I want to download to my desktop for future use, but can't.

I had this same problem in Firefox, but fixed it thru Options>Content>Ask Always

Anything similar for IE?

Sorry, forgot to mention I am on Windows 7, but have experienced the same issue with Vista and XP.
Also, for the mp3 files, there is no link to which I can right click save as. There is a button that you have to click to open the mp3 (uses javascript i think)

Hi "VP",

When Windows Media Player opens your MP3, can't you go to FILE | SAVE AS??
This works in WMP v. 11.

open windows media player
goto options in tools.
then goto file types tab,uncheck mp3 and wma then click ok.
now you can open it in your favorite player which you want.

thanks for ur reply friend.
I dont have a problem with WMP playing the file. I just want the option to save it to my desktop instead of it ending up in my temp files.
This is so strange, not sure if this is a feature of the new IE or WMP or its just a setting that has been checked by mistake...
Any help would appreciated.

I had the same problem, it solves:
