IE8 compatibility button no longer shown

Hi,

We have a website that for a few more months still requires IE7 (or IE6) and
detects when someone is using IE8 without the compatibility option set. We
show them a page outlining what to do and after that they can continue.
This has been working for a while however suddenly a lot of people do NOT
see the compatibility button anymore and therefore cannot click on it. The
menu option to add our domain to the sites where IE7 compatibility is to be
used still works but it is a lot more work and most people don't read that
far in the help tekst. :-(

Did Microsoft change something in the past few weeks that makes this button
suddenly NOT appear where it used to do so before? Is there a way we can
force this button to be show in IE8?

Bonno

<QP>
When installing, users can choose to use the Compatibility View list (and
thus opt-out of IE8’s standards-by-default configuration). Users have to
choose to use the Compatibility View list, and receive updates for it – it’s
not on by default. Users can also “click the button” that places a site
into Compatibility View. Both actions involve users exercising choice to
override IE's defaults.

If you want to see if your site is in the Compatibility View List, use
the following URL:

res://iecompat.dll/iecompatdata.xml
