| Viewing photos in IE Not sure if I have a hardware or software problem here. I have run into a problem viewing photos or otherwise high resolution pictures in Internet Explorer 7 and later 8 after I upgraded to it. These photos on a webpage will be displayed in a very low resolution, blocky, blotchy manner while text or line drawings are usually displayed with no problems. This occured after I had upgraded my motherboard to the fastest processor the manufacturer said it would accept which was an Intel 3.06Ghz HT one. Unfortunately I gave the old processor away when I upgraded my uncle's computer with it and he's out of state. The original processor was not a HT processor but the computer's manufacturer (a major one - THE major manufacturer of PCs out there) said this processor was compatible with the motherboard. I thought the integrated video card may be the problem as it wasn't all that great so I put a new one in that doubled the amount of memory and had a faster processor in it. Unfortunately this didn't change anything. What's strange is I can have the problem viewing a photo in my ISP's mail website but not when I download the same photo into Outlook Express and view it there! Raising the video card's resolution to the highest level doesn't change anything either as those high resolution pictures on the page are still out of focus, so to speak. Does anyone have any ideas what to tackle next with this problem? |

| Re: Viewing photos in IE Yes, I'm on NetZero with their so-called Hi-Speed Internet. I can't get wireless in the small town I'm in due to the trees that suround my house. ADSL is a long way away too due to the old phone equipment that Verizon keeps the whole town on. | Re: Viewing photos in IE Thanks. I have my "Check for newer versions of stored webpages" set to Automatic so it should do this fairly often. We have had problems with the Hi-Speed software ever since it was installed. I had to set my IE7, at the time, back to factory specs just so it wouldn't continuously close down. My profile is OK but my wife's profile apparently needs the same treatment. It's very inconsistent too. I was just on a news webpage and half the pictures came in perfectly while half were the fuzzy low-rez problem I asked about. Really strange. I hate problems that are neither here nor there but somewhere in between. Thanks again. "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: > It's not a sin to be on dial-up, and "so-called" is right! Not necessarily, especially if the web-accelerator's still enabled/installed. | Re: Viewing photos in IE I disabled the "Hi-Speed" function and the pictures, for the most part, are coming in clearly now, just a lot slower. Jeeze, what do you have to do for truth in advertizing? The only good thing about this is I bought the new video card on ebay rather than a retailer. At least I didn't get totally screwed here. Now I can tell NZ to stuff its accelerator and drop my access fee a few bucks. Thanks for you help with this mystery. | Re: Viewing photos in IE Yes, until they get better phone equipment in our town satellite is our only option right now. Unfortunately, I was laid off last month so there are other priorities afoot. I can use my old computer at my old office occasionally as I still have good relations with the people there so if I really need fast Internet access I can get it until someone gets my office which is none too likely as all my servers were screaming in there and I was the only one that would put up with that.
