| Address bar drop down menu in IE8 Hi, I am using IE8 with IE7Pro, when I was using IE7 the old addresses in the drop down menu were replaced by the new addresses as I type them. Now as I have moved on to IE8, the address bar stays the same and the Maximum allowed 12 addresses stay same even if I don't use them. I found the culprit by disabling the Add-ons, if I disable IE7Pro.BHO Add-on the address bar drop down menu behaves like the one in IE7. The problem is, if I disable this Add-on, I loose the very useful spell checker feature of IE7Pro. Could someone please help me to resolve this as I would like to keep both features.TIA. | Re: Address bar drop down menu in IE8 You will have to determine if there's a version of IE7Pro that's IE8-compatible. brummyfan wrote: > Hi, > I am using IE8 with IE7Pro, when I was using IE7 the old addresses in the > drop down menu were replaced by the new addresses as I type them. | Re: Address bar drop down menu in IE8 I use all three of the ones below at times. Been using this for years and on IE8 now. http://www.iespell.com/ You can also use these : Tiny Spell allows you to INCLUDE the program you want so it works only with those OR EXCLUDE the ones you want so it works with all else. I use the Free Version though the Pro is worthwhile : http://tinyspell.m6.net/ FreeSpell also works nicely : http://hcidesign.com/freespell/ "brummyfan" <brummyfan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8658A1C7-7EA6-4FCE-AD59-2217DBA62F19@microsoft.com... > Hi, > I am using IE8 with IE7Pro, when I was using IE7 the old addresses in the > drop down menu were replaced by the new addresses as I type them. The last release was around Feb or Mar which was before IE8 was released. The add-on author never divulged that he ever did any testing of IE7Pro against IE8 beta. The developers have not visited the IE7Pro forums since around November of last year. The admins and moderators have abandoned the forums with the result that no one else can get elected to have admin rights to moderate the forums and get rid of the spam and porn crap posts that have infiltrated the forums. The isolation between frame and tab resources under separate processes and other security measures in IE8 seems to have thrown the IE7Pro developers into a loop and they have abandoned this product. You might get some portion of IE7Pro to work. Some won't work. Some have workarounds but often they only function for those that have "discovered" what worked under their environment. No matter how useful you think was IE7Pro, it is no longer reliable and will cause problem under IE8. The product certainly seems to have been abandoned. It was a good utility but got dropped as happens with many freeware programs. Uninstall IE7Pro and move on. The ieSpell add-on gives you spellchecking in IE8 but it doesn't have the on-the-fly checking of the spellchecker in IE7Pro. You need to perform the spellcheck before you submit your form data. Also, there are also been some reported problems with ieSpell. As I recall, there was mention that you could select some text and spellcheck on just that text but it doesn't always work anymore. So far, it has worked well enough for me to keep ieSpell. www.iespell.com |

IE7 Pro is compatible with IE8 and it's spell checker is more user friendly. However I do appreciate your help and Thank you all for your contribution. |
