| Re: IE8 Setup Pop-up I was only taking an educated guess. What does this annoying pop-up say? Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista x64 SP2). What version of IE is shown in IE Help | About (e.g., v8.00.1234.5678)? Assuming IE8 is installed... What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed IE8? Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? Just asking for now!! Do NOT use such a Restore Point yet!! => Do you have an available Restore Point which predates the install of IE8? Have you had occasion to use such a Restore Point? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 sjb wrote: > Still getting that pop-up. > Any other idea? > > "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: >> CrystalBall© sez... >> >> See http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubles...sp#updatecheck >> >> sjb wrote: >>> Hello, >>> Anyone can tell how to get rid of this annoying pop-up. >>> When my IE8 is installed and the default browser, still getting this >>> Setup >>> pop-up that calls for ie8 installation. |

| Re: IE8 Setup Pop-up The pop-up is Setup that calls for installation despite of IE8 has been installed already. It pops up every once in awhile; "Reminde me later" is my answer to make it disappear. While IE8 was installed AWG and ZA were disabled; Windows Firewall not enabled, at least not manually. | Re: IE8 Setup Pop-up No, and its contents would be deleted eventually anyway over time. The folder only contains the installers for recent updates that have been installed or that are awaiting install (e.g., IE8). If you delete the folder's contents and later decide that you want to install IE8, all you have to do is "unhide" it and the installer will download again. sjb wrote: > Is there any way around deleting this Dowload folder content, which is > rather big -161 MB -? > > Sorry for asking "stupid" question in such late stage, see I'm not > confident > computer handler, just an old fart. > > "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: > >> STOPPING THE POP-UP => >> >> 1.
