Re: IE Starts Slow, Then Speeds Up

It seems to help to get rid of items onthe favoirtes bar, toolbars, etc. all
the stuff that's supposed to make IE8 better than 7,,
A conflict with Spybot and other anti spy software is one suggested reason
for the slowness but lots of us had the prob and never had spybot or the
conflicting software. Not everyone has the prob buts there's lots of stuff
onthe web about it-- so it appears lots of folks do.

There are some possible fixes being posted around the web inlcuding
re-reigstering actxprxy.dll by executing this command from a command window:
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll.

Another is to delete all the restricted web sites from the security window
under Tools, Internet Options. But the one that worked for me was to go to
the IE8 Manage Add-ons screen and disable Java. The only other solution being
offered is to revert to an earlier version of IE. Disabling Java mAde a
world of diff when nothing else would help. Load times dropped for 5-15 sec
down to a mere 1 or 2.

I imagine MS will fix the prob with JAVA and such eventually.
