Disable confirmation prompt for Send to Desktop?

Is it possible to disable the confirmation prompt for the File | Send
| Shortcut to Desktop command in Internet Explorer 8? For some
reason, sometimes the message comes up and sometimes it does not. I'd
like to get rid of it once and for all.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Disable confirmation prompt for Send to Desktop?

Hi,
Windows XP or Vista?

What's the wording of the confirmation prompt? I don't normally use "Send
shortcut to desktop" but am not seeing a confirmation prompt now that I'm
trying it.

Don

I don't know the answer off the top of my head and I am not online for
much longer.....

The wording I get on Vista IE8 is:
"Do you want to put a shortcut to this website on your desktop?
<url>
Yes No

....Alan

Re: Disable confirmation prompt for Send to Desktop?

Thanks Alan. It sounds like Vista's UAC, but I don't know why it wouldn't
appear every time.

Re: Disable confirmation prompt for Send to Desktop?

It is Vista, and that's the prompt. I guess it could come and go with
turning UAC off and on, so I will test that and let you know. Thanks.

Re: Disable confirmation prompt for Send to Desktop?

Hi,
There's another setting which may be involved, but I have it set to "prompt"
and never see the confirmation dialog.

Internet Options> Security> Internet Zone> Custom Level> Miscellaneous>
Installation of desktop items.
