| red alert: IE 8 shuts down my web REGULARLY. IE 8 on my XP machine works fine right after installing. But VERY soon. Refuses to connect to the web. IE8 goes through it's networking help. I choose the correct wireless network. After a day or after a reboots or whatever.....IE8 refuses to connect AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This stops Firefox and Chrome from also connecting. I have to AGAIN, worthless trash browser, go through the network connection wizard in IE8 to again connect. time goes by and guess what. Worthless piece of trash stops the web again. Again IE 8 can't connect to the web. AGAIN Firefox can't connect to the web....again chrome can't connect to the web. WHY because worthless IE 8 out of the blue decided so. What do I have to do....I have to again go through IE 8's network connection wizard....trash. IE 7 of course DOES NOT have this problem. I am going to uninstall this IE 8 and never install another microsoft product. until 2015. |

| Re: red alert: IE 8 shuts down my web REGULARLY. Normally I would agree with you, but this problem doesn't happen with IE 7. IE7 just uses the given Internet windows uses(wireless card on a desktop). IE 8 on the other hand has it's own network connection wizard that some how interrupts where IE 7 doesn't have that problem. Not only that, this problem is on all 5 computers in this lab I believe. Now I will have to say, these computers have some sort of special company anti-privacy software on them. It could be that those company programs are blocking the web short term, but why would IE 8's wizard reset the web??? Again IE 7 doesn't have this problem. Not at ALL! | Re: red alert: IE 8 shuts down my web REGULARLY. Don't blame Internet Explorer...it's not "IE 8's network connection wizard"...IE, like Firefox and Chrome, is a web browser, not a network management utility. My network works just fine with IE 8. To solve your problem, you need to examine your network configuration settings. You may also want to check your firewall rules. A good place to start is the resources available from the manufacturer of your network equipment. If you're using Windows Wireless Zero Configuration to manage your network, as do I, there are Microsoft newsgroups that cover networking. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est american.angry wrote: > IE 8 on my XP machine works fine right after installing. | Re: red alert: IE 8 shuts down my web REGULARLY. Again, installing IE8 could not possibly have caused other browsers to fail. The environment in which you installed it could have. 1. If you don't own the computer in question, you should NOT be upgrading IE, period. 2. The various security measures put in place by your employer may well be related to the problems you encountered after installing IE8. These include any GPOs and Admin Templates. 3. For best results, you should disable (a) the anti-virus application, (b) all real-time "system protections" (e.g., those afforded by any third-party application, (c) any third-party firewall and then (d) enable the Windows Firewall prior to installing AND uninstalling an IE upgrade. No-charge support for Internet Explorer 8 installation, set-up and usage (only) is available via the phone based on your locale through 31 December 2009. *Customers must be running Windows XP or Windows Vista in a non-domain environment*. => US & CA Residents: 1-866-234-6020 => Other locales: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...px?&prid=13043 -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 american.angry wrote: > Something else...I thought of.
