Re: IE8 Really Slow Opening?

A conflict with Spybot is one suggested reason for the slowness but lots of
us had the prob and never had spybot.

There are some possible fixes being posted around the web inlcuding
re-reigstering actxprxy.dll by executing this command from a command window:
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll. Another is to delete all the restricted web sites
from the security window under Tools, Internet Options. But the one that
worked for me was to go to the IE8 Manage Add-ons screen and disable Java.
The only other solution being offered is to revert to an earlier version of
IE. Disabling Java mAde a world of diff when nothing else would help. Load
times dropped for 5-15 sec down to a mere 1 or 2.

I imagine MS will fix the prob with JAVA and such eventually.

Re: IE8 Really Slow Opening?

Disable Java SSV in startup and Manage Add-ons, it is no longer needed at
all
and causes issues.

MS will not solve the Java issues, however Java already has. Update yours at

Re: IE8 Really Slow Opening?

I did a complete uninstall, deleted the remainder directories, and ran the
installer cleanup utility tomake sure all traces of java were gone. Then I
went to the java website and installed the latest version and lo and behold
plug-in 2 SSV Helper is part of what's installed with the latest version.

Yes I forgot it would do that but it is only a left over, you can disable
it.

Re: IE8 Really Slow Opening?

Okie doke. Thanks. Meanwhile I had been search info around the web and came
upon in several places that the add-on is part of the latest java but totally
unnecessary in IE.
