My husband upgraded to 8 last night and I was unable to log in to Google or
Gmail. It keeps giving me "Your browser's cookie functionality is turned
off. Please turn it on. [?]". I went thru the steps to make sure cookies
were turned on properly (still were). When I tried to log in to Gmail
directly it just takes me right back to the log in page. This morning my
husband thought maybe if he checked for updates it might help. The updates
to 7 were current at the time of upgrade. When he checked, it showed 7
critical for ie8, so he updated. Guess what, screen went blue and then it
crashed. He tried restarting and couldn't even get it to safe mode. After
about 6 tries he got it back on again. I tried checking Google for problems
with ie8 but haven't been able to find anything to solve the problem. Please
help.

Time to uninstall IE8 and do a System Restore to a time before IE8 installation.
Then read the instructions for preparing for IE8 installation.
