| IE8 - drop down menu for previous URLs inactive I have a Toshiba G32 running XP SP3. I have just installed IE8 'cos I was fed up with IE7 continually complaining about visiting sites with old code especially those with embedded music files. As far as I can tell IE8 is OK - except for one aspect. The URL drop down menu refuses to capture previously visited web sites. This is a pain when I click on the ' v ' at the right of the URL address field and nothing is listed. At least in previous IEs this drop down menu would list about 10 to 15 previously visited URLs. I don't display the History panel on the left of the main window 'cos I like an uncluttered window for the web page content I'm looking at. Why doesn't the drop menu work anymore? And how can I get it to remember URLs visited? Thanks - CJB. |

The most likely reason for the symptom that you are alluding to is that you have disabled AutoComplete for web browsing (in Options, Content tab, AutoComplete Settings dialog) > And how can I get it to remember URLs visited? Thanks - CJB. Turn that option back on. Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- |
