I'm having a truly horrible experience with Google Mail on IE8, to the point
of almost abandoning GMail!
Are there any special adjustments I need to make for mail.google.com/mail?
Specifically, scrolls freeze and are generally terribly sluggish.

Hi,
Windows XP or Vista? (Might or might not matter.)

First try clearing the Temporary Internet Files from Internet Options>
General> Browsing History> Delete> (next screen) etc.

Then...
Start Internet Explorer without add-ons from:
Right-click the IE icon on the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)
If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.
