Menu Bar waste of space in IE8

Someone at Microsoft NEEDS to explain why they arbitrarily decided that
nothing else could share horizontal space with the Menu bar after allowing it
in the previous two IE versions. It makes absolutely ZERO sense to have
about 80% of blank horizontal space that could be used for me Favorites Bar,
like I have used in the previous verisons. It has caused me to uninstall IE
8 because it is seriously arbitrary. There is no reason why the Menu Bar has
to be all by itself other than Microsoft wanting to take away user CHOICE
that we once had.

Unlock toolbars, drag the favourites bar down where you want, relock
toolbars.

I think that is what annoys the OP and me. Third-party toolbars can be
added to the command toolbar, but not Microsoft's! Go figure...

I have roboform on the right of the menu bar just after Help.
No problems putting it there.
Unlock taskbar and drag the bar you want to then area. Then lock task bar.

Works for me without any problems.

Re: Menu Bar waste of space in IE8

hunterdust,
I totally agree with you. As recently as IE7 you could place your Links bar
next to the Menu bar. Not so in IE8, I don't get it.
There is however a workaround that you might like.
1. Move the Menu Bar to the top of the Address Bar:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930645
2. Leave the Address Bar as is.
3. Move Favorites to the left of the first Tab.
4. Move the Favorites Bar (Links Bar) to the right of the first Tab.
5. Move the Command Bar to the right of the Favorites Bar and then scrunch
it all the was to the right until you have just the Home icon and the two
arrows to access the other commands.
Hit F11 or from the Menu bar choose View > Full Screen.
As long as you don't have very many entries on your Favorites Bar, you
should still have enough room for two or three Tabs. If you have many
entries you can separate them into folders.
I've attached a picture of the end result. toolbars.jpg
