I have just installed IE8 on my job-laptop.
The firewall we use, Proventia blocks all trafic to IE8 with a rule called
HTTP_UserAgent_Too_Long.

The max length is set to 205 to prevent attacks.

My querystring was

Mozilla/4.0_(compatible;_MSIE_7.0;_Windows_NT_5.1;_Trident/4.0;_.NET_CLR_1.1.4322;_.NET_CLR_2.0.50727;_.NET_C LR_3.0.04506.30;_.NET_CLR_3.0.04506.648;_.NET_CLR_ 3.5.21022;_.NET_CLR_3.0.4506.2152;_.NET_CLR_3.5.30 729)

I had to manually enter the registry to remove som of the .net installations
from the querystring in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet
Settings\User Agent\Post Platform]
to be able to browse the internet.
