| Typing Interrupted my OS I have a pet peeve about IE that has been a constant annoyance for years. I have google set as my home page, as that is the site I most commonly go to on the web and this is fantastic, the problem is that sometimes I open IE wanting to visit a specific other site. When I do this I open it and instictively start typing on the address bar. IE then decides that my typing is in fact much less important than the pre-set home-page, so halfway through my typing it replaces whatever I typed with the homepage, after which the rest of my typing is appended to this address to form a new invalid address. When I hit enter I end up with a error message and an unusable URL in the adrress bar and I have to do it all over again. This is a general issue with the Microsoft Windows API I find extremely annoying. Is it not possible to start a timer when I hit a key, and then prevent the window I am typing in from loosing focus for half a second or 750 milliseconds after my last keypress? After all, when I am typing something I am fairly busy with a specific action that I do not really want interrupted. My favourite peeve is where I am typing a word such as "Accessory" in word and in mid-word a popup appears notifying me of an error and asking me if I want to delete the document I was downloading (conviniently "y" shortcut, or keep it - (the "n" shortcut). With impecable timing Windows will pop up the question as I am pressing the "Y" in "Accessory" and I will inadvertantly delete something I never intended to ... How darn annoying ... Please, pretty please - see if you can get your guys to alter this annoying "feature" of the interface (or should I call it Surface now?). Does the initial IE window load more quickly if you (1) use a blank home page and (2) start IE7 (one assumes) in No Add-ons mode? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Cobus van Eeden wrote: > I have a pet peeve about IE that has been a constant annoyance for years. > > I have google set as my home page, as that is the site I most commonly go > to > on the web and this is fantastic, the problem is that sometimes I open IE > wanting to visit a specific other site.
