| Quicktime changed my default from Windows Media Player I often access a web page that contains a .wav file. It should open with Windows Media Player, but this has been altered by Quick Time to open with it. I accessed Windows Media Player and made sure it was selected to open .wav files. But when I went back to the web page it would only open with Quick Time, once again. How can I fix this back, and to see to it that Quick Time does not change this again without asking? |

| Re: Quicktime changed my default from Windows Media Player Welcome to the media player wars, where every media player assumes that, of course, you'll want to use it for every kind of media file. Open QuickTime and look for the setting that says (I'm paraphrasing) 'automatically restore all file associations when some other naughty media player steals them'. Now close QuickTime. Open WMP, set the file associations as you desire and close WMP. The next time you open QuickTime, you'll see WMP selected for the file types you desire. --- Leonard Grey Packin' the 'K' Tom B wrote: > I often access a web page that contains a .wav file. Open QuickTime and click on Edit||Preferences||QuickTime Preferences... Click on the "Browser" tab and then click on the "Mime Settings..." button at the bottom of the Browser tab. Open "Audio-Audio only file formats" and remove the checkmark in the box next to "WAVE audio". Good luck, Donald Anadell |
