Problem downloading files

Hello everyone!
Every time I attempt to download any type of file, I receive an error stating "the connection with the server has been reset" I really don't have a clue on what that means. Since I'm no computer expert, I hope someone can explain to me step-by-step on how to resolve this issue.

If it helps....I'm using WIndows Vista, IE7 browser. I've tried Firefox, but that didn't work, so I'm sure it has nothing to do wth the browser. So again, please explain to me step-by-step.

Many Thanks.
