Where it IE 7 downloading to?

Hello

I asekd this question a few weeks ago but didn't get to the bottom of it

______________________________________

I just downloaded an MP3 podcast with IE 7 and now can't find it on my
computer

Normally, I use a Stardownloader and have full control but it isn't
installed on this computer

Where on Earth would IE7 put it?

_____________________________________

Poeple asked me where I saved it to but that is the problem.

I click on an icon and in the bottom left hand corner of IE 7, I can see
that the mp3 is downloading.

There is also a lot of incoming activity detected by my firewall.

But no window comes up asking me where to put it and after all this
finishes, I can't find the mp3 anywhere on my Hard Drives

Thanks in advance

Dave Neve

Re: Where it IE 7 downloading to?

Dave, try doing a file search with " Windows Explorer" ( If you haven't done
it?). Use " *.mp3" and list the Hard Drive number or discription as the
location to search. This will find all the MP3 files on your computer. Once
that is done you can try to identify the one you are looking for and the
location of the file.

RE: Where it IE 7 downloading to?

Can I assume you did a search, using the search function? can I assume you
looked in the obvious places like "my received files" and "my downloads". I
have to ask the "obvious" just to eliminate these options.

Re: Where it IE 7 downloading to?

There is one other place you might want to try. As Somewhat-tech says, look
at all the possibilities. Find your Temporary Internet Folder and copy it to
a new temp folder on your hard drive. Once you have done that open up the
temp folder and click on the content ie folder. This will show you all the
sub folders. Click on each one to open them up. Sort the "size column" from
large to small or vice versa. Look at all the files that have the size of a
normal MP3. Your download may have been renamed so pay close attention to
the file type. Also look to see if the site address is listed as well.

If you still can't find your file then more than likely your firewall
interfered with the download.

Repost: Your Windows version is...?

If you didn't opt to SAVE it, it would have been downloaded to Temporary
Internet Files or My Downloads folder.

Re: Where it IE 7 downloading to?

Hi Again

Yep I had looked for the files but I did try again after the advice given in
case of a name change

Even then using date of creation or date of modification, nothing was
apparently downloaded in the last couple of days so I'm assuming the fire
wall blocked it.

Thanks to everyone who helped

Dave Neve
