| No "Open In New Tab" On Right-Click Hi, I have recently reinstalled Windows XP Professional and done all the updates including IE7. However, whereas before I could right-click and get an option in the context menu to open in a new tab, it is not now available only "Open in new window". Any ideas? Cheers Cliff |

| Re: No "Open In New Tab" On Right-Click OT, possibly: >>> Hi, I have recently reinstalled Windows XP Professional and done all the >>> updates including IE7 Is Automatic Updates enabled? Have you visited Windows Update website since the reinstall and did any/all updates download/install? NB: I would NOT install WinXP SP3 at this point if it's not already installed!... IMPORTANT! => IE and Windows XP Service Pack 3 http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/200...and-xpsp3.aspx ========================================= 1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start IE7 in No Add-ons mode: Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No add-ons). Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx 2. Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 <= Read before using! 3. If you uninstall (a) IE7 *exactly* per the link below (which automatically returns you to IE6), (b) all toolbars and (c) all third-party Windows Themes (including Window Blinds) and do NOT reinstall IE7, does this behavior persist? If it does, do NOT reinstall IE7. Uninstalling IE7 http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html [Only use the Command %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe if you cannot uninstall via Add/Remove Programs!] IE7 (Un)Installation and Anti-Malware Applications: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/200...lications.aspx 4. Required reading IMHO before reinstalling IE7: Sandi's Installation Tips <= Steps #1-8, #10 & #11; take note of #12, then STOP http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install I strongly recommend using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow.../getitnow.mspx as the installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update. Direct Download link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...0-081805b2f90b Tip: Save the installer to your desktop, do not Run it. 5. Make *certain* that you check in at Windows Update immediately after reinstalling IE7 to install any critical updates offered. If Optional Updates category offers Root Certificates update, I recommend installing it to take full advantage of IE7's additional security. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ cliff wrote: > Thanks for the prompt reply, yes they are, also "Open Links In New Tab" is > ticked > >> Are tabs enabled? >> >> cliff wrote: >>> Hi, I have recently reinstalled Windows XP Professional and done all the >>> updates including IE7. | Re: No "Open In New Tab" On Right-Click My partner did indeed download Google Toolbar without realising, when I found it on my browser I immediately uninstalled it so there is now no option to reset the toolbar. I will uninstall IE7 and reinstall to see if that fixes the problem. | Re: No "Open In New Tab" On Right-Click I'm using XP and noticed a while ago that the right-click menu no longer displays "open in new tab" too. "Donald Anadell" wrote: > > Any help here: > http://dundats.mvps.org/Internet/Int...ption_Gone.htm > > Good luck, > > Donald Anadell I restored the Google toolbar defaults, but that didn't help. Then I disabled the Google toolbar, and "open in new tab" is available now only once, from my home page only, after opening IE afresh. When I open another tab or window, the option is gone. |
