| IE7 Issues I just want to throw this out there. It is a question and a comment. I have multiple issues with IE7. It is slow as slow can be...it always opens in a minimize screen....pdf files no longer load and my active X files; even though they are loaded sometimes don't want to work. I have uninstalled the adobe files and active X files...I have tried all of the fixes mentioned in various posts, but the issues keep returning. I'm now running Firefox because of these issues. I was a diehard IE guy, but with all of the disappointments the MS keeps handing out I finally broke down and switched to a new browser. ...in fact,I may be switching operating systems if MS gives up XP support. Vista is the worse OS that I have dealt with in a long time. I refuse to upgrade to it. It's bad enough I have to deal with in day in and day out. BTW...XP service pack 3 works great on my work PC and home PC. |

I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems: 1. You might have incompatible add-ons: Go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools and click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). 2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. Read this article first: How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 Note that the Reset IE Settings button will delete AutoComplete data (such as passwords.) Do you have those backed up? 3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware All MS-MVP Sites. http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/darnit.html http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Malware_Defence.htm Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315 So How Did I Get Infected Anyway? For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus, whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you owe it to the author. See also: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971 Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure of. No, you posted "XP service pack 3 works great on my work PC and home PC" but you did NOT state that your issues were with either of these machines. Moving on and assuming the machine in question is running WinXP SP3... => Was IE7 installed before or after you installed SP3? => Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start IE7 in No Add-ons mode: 1. Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or 2. | RE: IE7 Issues HI , totally agree with you regarding IE7 . Re Adobe , have you tried FOXIT (Its free as well) VISTA, well that's a joke in itself. SLOW, Buggy, Over blown on size, and the capabilities ( well, are they really required!) and why does it cost so much in the UK !!!!!! Thanks for your comments . agree with all of them . about time the money machine ( Micro$haft) started considering the users instead of using us pple as test beds for badly written clumbersome products ( have you tried Office 2007 ( another jokey program) especially the new toolbar ) -- db100547 "Jaxbear31" wrote: > I just want to throw this out there. | RE: IE7 Issues I clicked on this by mistake - I meant to open the one above, where PABear has been extremely helpful. I've seen a few of your posts here, DB100547. What 's your day job? Bailiff, traffic warden, vehicle clamper? You seem to have the right characteristics for those. I was cursing Microsoft the other day over SP3 - then I found out that the problem was probably caused by HP (Compaq) installing the wrong OEM Windows version (Intel instead of AMD). If you want help, then this place is easy to find and there's loads of helpful people here. If all you want to do is knock MS, then don't bother coming here.
