Yahoo Instant Messaging

My son is in Iraq and just bought a laptop that runs Vista. He has
downloaded both Yahoo Instant Messaging and Myspace Instant Messaging. It
downloads however when he clicks on "finish" and it completes nothing appears
- no icon or shortcut. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What is supposed to happen? Perhaps there is a support site for those products?

Without any other information what I would do is find all the files which changed
as a result of the install attempt and guess that there will probably be a diagnostic
file created by it which that search would find. Even so that may give you clues
about what he doesn't find when comparing his list with your list (assuming you
have already installed them successfully.)

An even better diagnostic would be to run ProcMon while retrying the install.
That would show you both the registry and file accesses which are happening
during the install attempt all interleaved and timestamped. This is often helpful
in supplementing any other diagnostic information you do find. Again, such a
trace would be even more useful when compared against a second trace taken
for a successful install.

Good luck
