| Internet explorer has stopped working I have Internet Explorer with VISTA and sometimes it works and sometimes (mostly)it doesn't. I have the nothing going on except what I am using and it will work and you leave it and go right back and it has stopped working. Any Ideas. I have had to resort to another browser to use the internet but some programs I have only uses IE and they are worthless. Thanks in advance. Don -- dk3106202007 |

| Re: Internet explorer has stopped working Assuming IE7. Right-click on the IE desktop icon and select the Start without add-ons option. If this solves your problem, enable add-ons one at a time, testing as you go, until you find the culprit. ------- *Report back, please* "DKON" <DKON@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:82CEAD60-5A21-41EF-BCA7-5D6F1451A798@microsoft.com... >I have Internet Explorer with VISTA and sometimes it works and sometimes > (mostly)it doesn't. | Re: Internet explorer has stopped working Mark wrote: > Why is "Stopped working" not enough? Do you need to know the weather, if the > dog was fed, what? That is the most idiotic response ever. Walk into a car shop and ONLY tell them "my car doesn't work". Are you really going to pay they to inspect your car piece by piece and fix everything that they find that they consider broken or not 100% in working order? How many possible solutions do you expect a respondent to include in their reply for a vague question? If all then they might as well as just use a link to Microsoft's support knowledgebase and tell the user to go fish around in all those possible solutions. So just what was your focused and highly detailed solution to DKON's post? After using your magic, crystal ball, seance, and special divination powers, what did YOU deduce was the exact problem that DKON was experiencing? Yeah, right, thought so. |

| Re: Internet explorer has stopped working When Internet Explorer says "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working" it doesn't give a reason. So why does a MVP need one? That was a rude and stupid reply. That was a rude and > stupid reply. Stop working could mean: - The OP tries to load IE but never see a window appear for it although a new instance of iexplore.exe showed in the Processes tab of Task Manager. - The OP see iexplore.exe quickly appear and then disappear in the Processes tab meaning it has crashed but hasn't bothered to check the Event Viewer. - The window appears but sometime later (quickly, seconds, hours, whatever) it disappears. - IE loads and appears but some specific action committed by the user inside of IE makes it hang, crash, or enact some otherwise unexpected behavior. And the list goes on. The OP can always describe the OS environment and what behavior they experienced to describe the problem to provide some context under when the problem occurred. |

| Re: Internet explorer has stopped working Mark wrote: > When Internet Explorer says "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working" it > doesn't give a reason. So why does a MVP need one? And we are still waiting for YOU to come up with an exact description of the environment and behavior that qualifies as "don't work" and what your detailed and focused solution might be. |

| Re: Internet explorer has stopped working Keep waiting. Instead of "Stopped working doesn't tell us very much" why not ask a few questions? That is, after all what the technician at the car shop would do, provided he wasn't rude. I don't know what the solution is but if I did have the knowledge to help I would certainly be polite, not arrogant, rude, and stupid. Well, until you come up with those questions (some of which I already posed), this subthread is going nowhere to help the OP. |

| Re: Internet explorer has stopped working Info not exactly correct for my Vista SP1 but pointed me to the add-on feature after starting IE7 and going to Tools Manage Add-ons. Knew it had something to do with Java but did not want to uninstall Java. But as soon as I disabled the Java add-ons (2) latest versions, website started up without closing IE7 as soon as the website was selected. Now need to find out what Java does for some other site(s).
