I've been using the name MSIE for many years. But, the name is now
Windows Internet Explorer on my Windows Vista PC. Should I call it WIE
from now on?

If you use IE7 for (Windows) Internet Explorer 7, IE for Internet Explorer
(all versions), and Explorer for Windows Explorer, you can't go wrong IMHO.

I've been just calling it IE for so long that I can't tell how many
years that is. Obviously context is everything if you are going to
use acronyms so it is rarely important to include "MS". When
discussing Microsoft's Word program, do you still use MSWord or just
use Word? Context makes the difference as to how detailed you need to
be. You'll find plenty of users that would recommend POS as the
appropriate acronymn.

Just IE with the version number as in IE7.
