| Internet Explorer 7 Crashes on Closure I was having graphics issues with Internet Explorer 6. Web sites - especially Google - appeared in strange grahics and fonts , much as though my computer was operating in Safe Mode. My internet servoce provder suggested that I change to Internet Explorer 7 by simply downloading the program from your website - which I did. I did not uninstall Internet Explorer 6 (if that is even possible.) Ever since I installed Internet Explorer 7, the program jams and shuts down when I exit. I receive the "Interent Exploer has encountered a problem and must shut down" message. At that point the computer jams. I have gone to the Microdsoft website and tried the solution found at http://support.microsoft.com/gp/pc_ie_methodfour0100. Unfortunately, I can't accomplish step one. When I enter iexplore.exe-extoff into the Run box and press Enter, I am directed to an AOL search page looking for reference for "?extoff". I have gone through the subsequent steps of deleting Temp files, Cookies, etc. but the problem remains. Would you be able to provide any advice? Should I reinstall Internet Explorer 7? Is there a way to uninstall and re-install the program? Many thanks. |

You might have incompatible add-ons: Go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools and click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). 2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. Read this article first: How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 Note that the Reset IE Settings button will delete AutoComplete data (such as passwords.) Do you have those backed up? 3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware All MS-MVP Sites. http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/darnit.html http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Malware_Defence.htm Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315 So How Did I Get Infected Anyway? For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus, whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you owe it to the author.
