address bar no drop down

When I used to type in the address of a site id been to or the first few
letters of a favorite, the address bar would bring up a drop down menu with
all websites or favorites starting with the characters I had begun typing.
now there is no drop down when i start typing www.cnn.com for example, no
pages from that site that i've visited come up as options. How can I solve
this problem. I haven't deleted my history recently, in internet options
advanced i don't have the temporary internet files to be deleted on open and
close of ie.

In order to use this site name for an example to describe symptoms of
a problem with AutoSuggest you would need to say "I start typing cnn..."

Is AutoSuggest (aka AutoComplete for web addresses) turned on?
E.g. what do you see if you press Alt-d,Delete,CursorDown

BTW if you only visit a site with HTTPS it may not appear in your History
and hence may not appear in the AutoSuggest dropdown, even if you do
type the appropriate letters to make it show. ; )
