IE7 and Streams using WMP

When I stream radio stations that use WMP I get no sound. Problem just
started this week. The stream shows that it is streaming but I get no sound.
I am able to listen to radio stations that use a Flash player.

I am trying to listen to the follwing stations:

Bloomberg Radio:
http://www.bloomberg.com/audioplayer...radio_live.asx

WISN(local station):
http://www.newstalk1130.com/pages/streaming.html

The only thing I did this week was install a DVD Ripping program. Not sure
if it might have changed something.

I have re-installed IE7 and WMP11

Thank's
Paul

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

Clear TIF, disable your ad blocker, once the stream starts you can
re-enable your ad blocker.

Thank's Lenoard for the info. But I am not sure what you mean by "Clear TIF".
Can you please elaborate.

Thank's
Paul

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

Thank's for the clarification. I deleted the TIF and disabled popup blocker.
It did not make a differnece. I think a file has been replaced or a registry
entry has been modified.

Not sure where to go from here, just short of re-intalling everything

Thank's
Paul

I didn't say 'disable your pop-up blocker'. I said 'disable your ad
blocker'. Look in your security software.

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

Thanks for pointing that out. I disabled Norton Internet Security. Still
having no luck with the stream.

How can I find out what codecs/files are used and registry entries needed to
play WMP streams in IE7? Like I said the page shows its streaming but no
audio.

Thank's
Paul

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

The content provider knows what codecs you need. You don't need to edit
the registry.

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

Last week I was able to stream the two radio stations fine. The only thing I
did was install a DVD Ripping program and maybe installed some automatic
Windows XP updates sent to my computer.

Tech support at the DVD Ripping program company say they do not know of any
problems there program may cause.

Thank's

Paul

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

When I say "content provider" I mean the website that is providing the
stream. They know what software you need to view the stream.

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

I fixed my problem by re-installing from my recovery disks.

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

Erasing your hard disk and restoring your computer to the way it was
when it left the factory is not a fix. Will you do that every time you
can't stream? (Rhetorical question.)

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

I agree with you that this is not the solution. But right now I don't have
the time to do more research non my problem.

I think it was the the DVD ripping program that caused by problem. I will
have to try re-installing this program to see if caused my problem. Last year
when I did this I was not able to role back the changes (maybe I waited to
long to role back).

Thank's
Paul

Re: IE7 and Streams using WMP

The best way to 'roll back the changes' is with disk imaging software.
It's like going back in time. Disk imaging is complicated, but if you're
into DVD ripping I'll bet you can handle it just fine.
