| Deleting IE 7 Favorites; permanently removes; not in recycle bin I've noticed that while in IE 7 if I delete a bookmark/favorite it permanently deletes it, I cannot find it in the recycle bin Is there any option to change the way its deleted? If I open the actual folder to the favorites and delete it within the folder it will delete it to the recycle bin. IE 6 was a lot different, if you right clicked a bookmark (favorite) and chose to delete it, all bookmarks will show up in the recycle bin but apparently that is not the case for IE 7 users? |

| Re: Deleting IE 7 Favorites; permanently removes; not in recycle bin Can't reproduce that. When I right click a favorite in the favorites list (pinned side pane), click delete, it asks if I want to send it to the recycle bin. Only if I hold shift key down does it delete completely. IE 7 on XP SP2. | Re: Deleting IE 7 Favorites; permanently removes; not in recycle b Well I think it might be fixed now; not sure what did it. First I did like you said; went into Add Ons and Disabled all Norton/Symantec Add Ons; however after disabling them it still said "permanently delete" so then I went into the drop down menu that said "Add Ons that have been used by Internet Explorer" I disabled every single item in that list, everything, went back and tried to delete and it said "recycle bin" so then I went thru part of the list and enabled then went and tried to delete it I finally finished off the list, everything is re enabled, everything including Symantec/Norton and I tried to delete it and it says "Recycle Bin" I even rebooted PC, went back and made sure everything was enabled as far as Add Ons; tried to delete the file and it still says "would you like to send this file to recycle bin" So to my understanding whatever it was, I disabled it, then re enabled it and it is working properly I guess :) Thanks Larry "Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM" wrote: > In IE fo to Tools | Manage Add-ons and disable any Norton Add-ons. > > "ltolman" <ltolman@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:EBD3FC72-7138-4BBC-8CD1-F04F95850C29@microsoft.com... > > Norton Internet Security 2008 > > Norton Systemworks Basic > > > > "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: > > > >> What Norton application is installed? > >> > >> ltolman wrote: > >> > Sorry guess I shouldlve said > >> > > >> > Using Windows Vista 32bit Ultimate > >> > IE 7.0.6000.16575 > >> > Cipher Strength: 256 bit > >> > > >> > "Jean Rosenfeld" wrote: > >> > > >> >> Can't reproduce that. | Re: Deleting IE 7 Favorites; permanently removes; not in recycle b Okay add ons are not the problem and I think I solved it. You see with me I have created my own personal home page with over 300 links completely categorized; you can get a taste of it by visiting: www.larrytolman.com/Anyone.htm Anyways when I click the Internet Explorer Icon it loads up my personal page. When I click any link on that page it opens up a new window and likewise for every link I click on the home page if I didnt close the window it just opens up a new tab. Now I've tested this and I think I have solved it (again LOL) If I delete a bookmark while on 1 window it will say "permanently delete" but if I delete the bookmark on my home page it will say "send to recycle bin" So again Click IE icon it loads up my home page; if I delete the bookmark here; it will recycle it in the recycle bin Click IE icon, it loads up my home page, I click a link and it loads a new window where I start surfing and delete a bookmark and it will "permanently delete it" Thus its a Microsoft IE 7 issue :) Larry "ltolman" wrote: > Well I think it might be fixed now; not sure what did it. > > First I did like you said; went into Add Ons and Disabled all > Norton/Symantec Add Ons; however after disabling them it still said > "permanently delete" so then I went into the drop down menu that said "Add > Ons that have been used by Internet Explorer" I disabled every single item in > that list, everything, went back and tried to delete and it said "recycle > bin" so then I went thru part of the list and enabled then went and tried to > delete it > > I finally finished off the list, everything is re enabled, everything > including Symantec/Norton and I tried to delete it and it says "Recycle Bin" > > I even rebooted PC, went back and made sure everything was enabled as far as > Add Ons; tried to delete the file and it still says "would you like to send > this file to recycle bin" > > So to my understanding whatever it was, I disabled it, then re enabled it > and it is working properly I guess :) > > Thanks > > Larry > > "Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM" wrote: > > > In IE fo to Tools | Manage Add-ons and disable any Norton Add-ons. > > > > "ltolman" <ltolman@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > > news:EBD3FC72-7138-4BBC-8CD1-F04F95850C29@microsoft.com... > > > Norton Internet Security 2008 > > > Norton Systemworks Basic > > > > > > "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: > > > > > >> What Norton application is installed? > > >> > > >> ltolman wrote: > > >> > Sorry guess I shouldlve said > > >> > > > >> > Using Windows Vista 32bit Ultimate > > >> > IE 7.0.6000.16575 > > >> > Cipher Strength: 256 bit > > >> > > > >> > "Jean Rosenfeld" wrote: > > >> > > > >> >> Can't reproduce that. | Re: Deleting IE 7 Favorites; permanently removes; not in recycle b Try this test: 1. Reset IE7: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...fe1771033.mspx If the behavior persists... 2. After making certain you have a copy of your Product Key, uninstall all Norton software via Add/Remove Programs. 3. Enable the Windows Firewall. 4. Run this removal tool: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039 5. Immediately install the 30-day free trial version of, e.g., NOD32* or KAV7** 6. Manually update your new anti-virus application then run a full system scan. Does the behavior persist now? [Don't forget to subscribe to your new AV app or uninstall it then reinstall the Norton application before the free-trial period expires! Should you decide to reinstall the Norton application, I recommend not installing any Norton Add-ons for a while.] * www.eset.com/download/index.php ** http://usa.kaspersky.com/trials/home.../anti-virus-7/ -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ ltolman wrote: > Okay add ons are not the problem and I think I solved it. > > You see with me I have created my own personal home page with over 300 > links > completely categorized; you can get a taste of it by visiting: > > www.larrytolman.com/Anyone.htm > > Anyways when I click the Internet Explorer Icon it loads up my personal > page.
