IE keeps closing at loading phase

Hello, please help ASAP!

Whenever I try to load IE it closes automatically! I tried updating my older
version of IE to IE7 and it gives the same error. It's like a "Illegal
Operation" type error. I load it, and it happens immediately.
I cannot get through the installation phase on my wireless router because of
this error as well - It needs to load IE for it to complete.
Firefox works fine. I loaded IE7 without Add-Ons and it works fine... But I
cant figure out how to disable Add-Ons with the regular IE since I cant load
it to get to the Tools/Add-Ons menu!

System: Gateway DX300, Windows XP Pro SP2, Pentium D Dual-Core HT 2.86ghz,
1GB ram

I appreciate any help you can offer... Thank you!

Re: IE keeps closing at loading phase

Updating a browser to a newer version is very unlikely to solve a
problem with the older browser. The first rule of upgrading your
operating system is: Never upgrade over a problem.

Another way to reach Internet Options is through Control Panel.

RE: IE keeps closing at loading phase

Hello, DoctorSonic. To disable add-ons without opening IE click Start,
Control Panel, Network & Internet Connections, Internet Options and then the
Program tab, Manage Add-Ons. I use XP Home, but I'm assuming the steps in XP
pro would be the same.

Regards
Eric

RE: IE keeps closing at loading phase

Thank you for your help! Is there any way that I can find out which of the
add-ons is causing the problem other than the trial-and-error method?
