| Can I install internet explorer 6 on windows vista? The design of internet explore is the worst user experience I have ever encountered. Can I go back to using 6 or do I need to return my computer? Because I refuse to use 7.0 unless I can change the design so it cal look more like 6. Who puts the refresh buttons where they are? You don’t go take a perfectly good interface and change it or if you do let people decide how they want it to look. |

| Re: Can I install internet explorer 6 on windows vista? If your computer came with Windows Vista, you can't remove IE 7. If you upgraded IE 6 to IE 7, follow these directions *carefully* to return to IE 6: "How to uninstall Internet Explorer 7" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177 ....and... http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html Bear in mind that there is no law that says you have to use IE 7. There are other browsers. A bit of unsolicited advice: Lots of people have different ideas about how software should look. I advise you to adopt a more open mind. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est WJT wrote: > The design of internet explore is the worst user experience I have ever > encountered. There are numerous 3rd party addons to vastly improve the user interface for IE7. I personally use Avant. Maxthon is also very popular. These and many others can be found on this Microsoft site: http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/ca...px?bcatid=3503 |

| RE: Can I install internet explorer 6 on windows vista? I whole-heartedly agree - I've just come here to ask how to replace it with IE6 in WindowsXP. I find the interface of IE7 so depressing that I've tried other browsers (Firefox, Opera), but they are not fully compatible with all the sites I regularly use. It's all very well saying 'It's a matter of taste', but IE7 is not only awkwardly set out, it's also SO INFLEXIBLE, it's as if Microsoft have gone technologically retro :-o I shall have a go with Avant etc as advised, but I do hope that MS will upgrade IE7 in the very near future. | Re: Can I install internet explorer 6 on windows vista? Thank you, Frank. I get in such a tiz at times, I've had a fiddle with the toolbars and found they are not quite as bad as they seemed when I first installed it, but there's still lots of mending to do ;) I'm going to persevere with IE7 for the time being, it will be easier knowing I can revert at any time to IE6. Thanks again :) "Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM" wrote: > Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs > Removing Windows Internet Explorer 7 returns you to IE6. > > How to uninstall Internet Explorer 7 > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177 |
