Start up error

Everytime I open internet explorer, i get the following message : "failed on
loading skin name :minibcont". The file "shell.css" is required in your
"sscommon/skins/minibcont/css/" directory. To fix this problem, please check
the skin name in your config file, or reinstall the application"

Please let me know how to get rid of this message. Thanks!

Re: Start up error

Hi Dave,

A search of the web reveals that you have posted this question on other
forums without receiving a successful answer?

Not knowing which customization program you have installed makes it
difficult to offer a solution. viz. uninstall the offending program.

However you could try the following
Tools>Internet Options - General tab, Accessibility Button, uncheck "Use
user stylesheet" or if this setting is already unchecked...
Tools>Manage Addons - Look for Browser Helper Objects (BHO's) that have
anything to do with appearance customizations and disable them and then
restart IE.

Check your Homepage setting for IE (Tools>Internet Options - General tab),
Check that it is using about:blank or a web page that you know exists (eg.
Google.com or live.com) and not one that is on your local disk (ie. has an
address like file://c:\\sscommon\\skins\\minibcont\\somefilename.htm)

Search your local hard disk for the folder "sscommon/skins/minibcont". You
may have accidentally deleted it (you may be able to restore it from your
re-cycling bin)

Please post back with the name of the offending program/addon for the
benefit of others.

Regards.

Re: Start up error

Hi Rob,

I too am encountering the same issue -

"failed on loading skin name :minibcont". The file "shell.css" is
required in your
"sscommon/skins/minibcont/css/" directory. To fix this problem, please
check
the skin name in your config file, or reinstall the application"

This is occurring on a Dell 530S Inspiron with Windows Vista Home Premium.

I tried your suggestions below -

1) Tools>Internet Options - General tab, Accessibility Button, uncheck "Use
user stylesheet" or if this setting is already unchecked... <<Was already
unchecked on my PC>>

2) Tools>Manage Addons - Look for Browser Helper Objects (BHO's) that have
anything to do with appearance customizations and disable them and then
restart IE. <<Unsuccessful>>

3) Check your Homepage setting for IE (Tools>Internet Options - General tab),
Check that it is using about:blank or a web page that you know exists (eg.
Google.com or live.com) and not one that is on your local disk (ie. has an
address like file://c:\\sscommon\\skins\\minibcont\\somefilename.htm) <<I
switched my home page to www.Yahoo.com and did not see any reference to my
local disk.>>

4)Search your local hard disk for the folder "sscommon/skins/minibcont". You
may have accidentally deleted it (you may be able to restore it from your
re-cycling bin) << I searched my local hard disk for the folder
sscommon/skins/minibcont and my search did not return any results.

Do you have any other suggestions?

I appreciate your help. Thank you.
Ken

RE: Start up error

You encounter this error due to a problem with Dell Support Center, assuming
that you are getting this message on a Dell computer. Simply uninstall the
Dell Support Center program, and reinstall if you wish.

I had the same problem and that fixed it.

Hope this helps!

Hi

I have recently purchsed a Dell vostro 1000 laptop, with vista premium
and exactly the same error message has started to appear at start up.
It is incredibly irritating and I have no idea how to stop it. I
cannot find sscommon/skins on my local disk. I have left this message
on another site to, but have yet to be enlightened further. PLEASE
HELP!
