Crash IE 7 on vista

Internet Explorer seven crashes frequency after I have disabled most of the
add-ons. Is it possible to remove Internet Explorer seven and reinstall it?
If I don't allow Internet Explorer to be the default browser my Office 2007
outlook fails to open links. It is very frustrating to have almost continuous
crashing. Is it possible to completely unable DEP which I think is cuasing
the crashes?

Hello Julsie,

You can disable DEP for specific programs like IE here:

Control Panel (classic view) > System > Advanced system settings >
Performance Settings > DEP

You can also turn DEP completely off by a system-wide setting described in
the following technet article:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec...fxp.mspx#ETJAC

Re: Crash IE 7 on vista

Hi Julsi,

Sorry, in Windows Vista the procedure is a bit different, because Vista does
not have a boot.ini any more.

Turn DEP off in Windows Vista
1 log on with an account that has adiministrator rights
2 run the "Command Prompt" as an administrator (right-click on Command
Prompt or cmd.exe in the start menu, run as administrator)
3 execute
bcdedit /set nx AlwaysOff
4 reboot your system

To turn DEP on again execute
3 bcdedit /set nx AlwaysOn

Best regards,

Viktor Krammer

Re: Crash IE 7 on vista

Thank you very much I believe it worked. If you could help with "This
operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer
etc" when clicking a link in mail in Outlook[vista] I would be eternally in
gratitude. I follow all the instructions about resetting IE 7 and it works
for a short while and comes back again. My only resolution seems to be to not
use Outlook 2007.
In the article 310049 there is an instruction to import a registry key from
another computer. i have a laptop running vista but can not find the key.
The only thing i can do is keep going back with system restore, which also
disappears from time to time after a reboot because I installed Vista on same
computer as XP and now automatically has dual boot which i am informed causes
the restore points to be eliminated. I am sure you can "see" how frustrated i
am becoming.
Please HELP
