IE7 freezes on adobe.com

This is strange. I tried to download acrobat reader from www.adobe.com on a
new machine with Windows Vista Business and IE7. Every time the site loads,
it
freezes and I have to use task manager to kill it. Other sites seem to work
just fine. When IE7 freezes, it is using about 50% of CPU time.
I checked for solutions and was told to get the latest Java suite. Still
does not work. Anybody else see this and is there a fix?

Not related to DEP (Data Execution Prevention). I turned that off and
re-booted - no change, adobe.com page still freezes.

Tried disabling add-ons and still freezing when trying to load the Adobe.com
website.

Found out later that firefox was handling the site just fine. For that
matter, my other Vista Home Basic machine has no problems with the Adobe
site either.

Thanx,
Oppie

Uninstall all versions of Adobe (Acrobat) Reader and then either install the
newest version from Adobe or install Foxit:
Foxit: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

Frank,

Thanks for the reply but I don't think that was the solution. The machine
(vista business with IE7) did not have any adobe software on it yet. The
issue was that when navigating to the adobe.com website, something on the
page caused the browser to freeze. Whether it was shockwave or flash (that
was not installed on this machine yet) that the site used and caused a
problem, I can't say. There was *something* that was peculiar to the adobe
site that casuses a problem as I have not seen the freeze on any other site.

I just went back to that machine and was playing with it. Today Adobe.com
seems to load just fine. The only thing that I can recall changing was
increasing the screen res from 1152x864 to 1280x1024. All the add-ons were
re-enabled yesterday. Oh-Well, another one of life's mysteries. At least
it's working.

Thanks for the recommendation for Foxit. Was not aware of that.
I have been using CutePDF Writer for PDF creation on my Vista machines. The
older Acrobat (full package) has some compatibility issues with Vista and
Distiller does not run at all.

Regards,
Oppie (aka Bob Oppenheimer)

Foxit takes up less space that Adobe Reader, but it sometimes does display a
bit differently.

What "same problem"? Where did you get WinXP SP4?
