What "same problem"? Where did you get WinXP SP4?

IE7 freezes on Adobe website

I see several "calls for help", but no definitive responses.
I am using Windows Vista Home Basic and IE7.
My problem just started about 2 weeks ago. When I attempt to go to Adobe's website to download newest version of Adobe reader,IE7 freezes and no links are clickable. I must use Task Manager to close program.I do not recall downloading any type of program that changed any settings, but perhaps I did.

I have gone through the 4 steps that Microsoft outlines. The first 3 were unsuccessful. Step 4 is to restore IE7 to
"manufacturers delivered program." This does work, but it also eradicates many of the customized settings, which is undesirable for me. The fact that "as delivered" works tells me that my problem involves settings.

I do not have Firefox or any other browser and really do not want another. I know IE7 works, but I have screwed some setting(s) up.

I shall appreciate any assistance.

For me, it is cigar smoking time! Even a root hog has some luck
occasionally.

Almost by accident I discovered that if I did not increase text size
(page/text size/larger) but left it as medium, the adobe website DID
NOT cause IE7 to freeze. I have validated this a good number of
times, including 4 reboots (hot & cold.) As an adjunct to this,
increasing the text size by holding down the control key and scrolling
upward with the wheel of my mouse does not cause IE7 to freeze.

I hope my solution will be of benefit to someone who is pulling their
hair out like I was!

Thanks for all the inputs. You guys are terrific.

I tried this and I am getting the same lockup thing. If I go to adobe.com,
iexplore.exe freezes and goes to 50 percent in taskmgr.

I have tried uninstalling Acrobat, Flash, Shockwave, reset both Advanced
settings in IE, also started IE with no add-ons with no luck. Loads the page
and then freezes.

I even downloaded the IE7 installer and tried that too.. same lock up.

I have XP SP3 and IE 7.

Of course firefox does works perfectly.. but is not an option here.. :/

I have seen other websites that report this same behavior but the answers
are always the same and don't work. I may need to call this one in I think..
*Sigh*

frp :)

Re: IE7 freezes on Adobe website

Change the resolution of your monitor to 1280X1024 before opening Adobe
website.
I know this makes no sense but it works.
I was using 1024 X 768 because I needed larger text and each time I tried
the Adobe site the system froze. I found this tip on another site and "it
works)
good luck !

IE7 freezes on Adobe website

Same problem here, but I already had 1280x1024. Moreover, this was only a problem on two of the three user accounts on my computer?!?!

But, it really is resolution dependant! I was not using IE in full screen mode, but with a smaller window. When I changed the ratio, making the window a bit wider, everything works!

Weird...
