| IE 7 launched by emails Hello When I look at certain emails even just with the partiel viewer and without clikcking on anything else, IE 7 is sometimes launched and goes on line Makes me really mad cos it is for me to decide whether to go on line or not. How can I stop this please? Thanks Dave Neve |

| RE: IE 7 launched by emails I'm experiencing this too. When I view some e-mails which contain HTML content I notice that the computer responds slowly. At some point when I do something (I'm not sure exactly what, but once it happened when I scrolledl the click wheel) a website pops up from one of the links in the e-mail. Please note that apart from the first occurrance, which was from a spam e-mail, the other two e-mails with this behaviour have come from a legitimate mailing list from a group hosted by a well known web portal, and a website of a credible company from which I receive a regular newsletter. | Re: IE 7 launched by emails Some more info on the bug bsed on my experience: When it happens for a particular message it only happens the first time the message is viewed. Even if the message is later marked as unread it doesn't happen again. In response to the previous message, my preview pane is turned off. However, only messages that go into the Junk folder are opened as plaintext. Messages not opened in plaintext are opened without downloading images. But I'm also getting this bug from non spam e-mails sent by a reputable website and mailing list. Liron "Leonard Grey" wrote: > You should be reading your email in plain text. | Re: IE 7 launched by emails - possible answer It just happened to me again with an e-mail notification about a reply in this very newsgroup. I think I know what's happening. If I triple click on a message in the main outlook window, either deliberately, or accidentally (e.g. intending to make a double click but it turns out a triple click) then the third click is applied to the message window once it is displayed. It may be displayed by the time the third click is made but this may not need to be the case, I'm not 100% sure. If the message contains a URL that happens to be under the mouse pointer, then that third click effectively opens Internet Explorer to display the web page pointed to by the URL. | Re: IE 7 launched by emails - possible answer Well, yes, that's a distinct possibility.
