Extraction failed, access is denied, ie7 sp2

Hi,
I have ie7 installed but want to upgrade to ie7 sp2. While running the
install-process I get error message "Extraction failed" + "Access is
denied" and the installation ends.

I am local admin on the computer, running winXP Pro.

Any ideas?

Thanks/Axel

Don't know about others reading this post of yours, but I'm a little
confused as to what you are actually attempting to do here. If you
currently have IE7 installed(as you stated), there is no such thing as an
"ie7 sp2" upgrade that I'm aware of.
Question 1:
Did you mean to say that you currently have IE6 installed on Windows XP Pro
and you are attempting to upgrade to IE7?
Question 2:
Did you mean to say that your currently have Windows XP SP1 installed on
your machine and you are attempting to upgrade to Windows SP2?

Good luck,

Donald Anadell

Ok, sorry about that, you are right.

However, I would like to reinstall IE7 because of various reasons but
I get errors according to my previous post. How can I fix this?

So do you have IE6 currently installed, or do you have IE7 currently
installed?

You can't install IE7 over top of itself, so if you have IE7 currently
installed you would have to uninstall it first using ADD||Remove Programs.
This Uninstall of IE7 will revert you back to IE6. Then install IE7 again.

What are you using for an install source? Download the IE7 install package
from the following site and use it as the installation source for installing
IE7:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...0-081805b2f90b

Be sure to read the following Pre-Install information here:

>I get errors according to my previous post. How can I fix this?

If after performing the above steps you are still getting Access Denied
errors when trying to install IE7, you might have to concider re-setting
your Registry Permissions in your Admin account using the "SubInACL.exe"
utility. Here are some useful links regarding this utility:
