Bad Request in IE7 & Vista

New Vista machine -- I hate it (Vista) so far...

I'm getting a "The webpage cannot be found" (HTTP 400 - Bad Request) message
when clicking on links within web pages and when I try to go to specific web
pages... It happens on many sites including Microsoft stuff like
http://local.live.com/ It's kiling my updates of my Dot Net Nuke sites... I
have no problems when I use FIREFOX...

I'm guessing it's some cool new microsof Security measure, but I can't find
where to turn it off... Help!

I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. See this
article first:
How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971
Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

You might also try the steps here:

Do you have Trend Micro Antivirus on the system? I just fixed the same
problem on my computer. What I had to do was turn OFF "prevent
unauthorized changes" in trend micro...that fixed the problem right
away. I'm to lazy to go through system dumps to figure out what the
exact problem was, but...if you have a antivirus try disabling that.
